A recognized move by schools undergoing re-branding- a new name, maybe a new head and a lovely new uniform. The Sutton Trust have commented on this in their review of ‘spending for learning’. There quote on the rationale behind school uniforms is interesting reading, and is shown below: They go on to say that it is very difficult to isolate the impact of a school uniform on achievement- they are typically introduced along with a raft of strategies designed to improve student outcomes. The effect size shown on the achievement gauge below is the most positive of the two quoted in the research.
